Aviate is a nifty new invite only (as on writing this post) launcher for Android phone. It automatically categorizes all of your apps, and intelligently rearranges your home screen throughout the day to dynamically give you the apps and information you need most, depending on time and your location. Read more about it here.
It’s a great launcher and probably the most intelligent and most useful ever for Android. But what if you want to switch back to the default or some other launcher, e.g. GO launcher EX, without uninstalling it from your phone?
For Android 4.4 (KitKat)
Luckily if your phone belongs to Nexus family and running on Android KitKat (4.4) update then it’s super easy as Google has added an option to switch the launcher from “Home” menu under settings.
- Click on “Settings” icon.
- Go to “Home” menu item.
- Choose the launcher you want to switch to.
- Restart your phone. It may not be necessary but I had to do it before it switched to the launched I selected.
For Android <= 4.3 (Jelly Beans and older versions)
Just install this application – Home Switcher. It doesn’t seem to work on Froyo but I’m not sure how many phones are still running on that primitive version.
P.S. – If you need invites for Aviate launcher, I might be able to help.
